Release Types
Intel offers three release streams for Intel® General-Purpose GPUs, each tailored to different needs and with varying support lifetimes. Support durations are approximate and may be subject to change.
Production
Production releases are designed for stable, production use with a support period of approximately 6 months. During this time, they receive bug fixes and security updates, but no new features are introduced after the initial release. Intel maintains only one active production release at a time, with updates applied exclusively to the latest version. Currently, there are no active production releases.
Long-Term Support
Long-Term Support (LTS) releases are designed for stable, production use and come with an extended support period of approximately 3 years. They prioritize stability, providing bug fixes and security updates without introducing new features. We recommend the LTS stream for most users due to its reliability. Features, hardware support, and compatibility with major operating systems introduced at the start of an LTS release remain unchanged throughout its lifecycle. Specifying the default production release version ID, for example, 2350, ensures that the latest updates are automatically applied. To lock in a specific production update, use the full version ID. For example, 2350.75 will install only the packages from the update released on July 25, 2024.
Rolling
Rolling releases are designed for early evaluation of new features when new hardware becomes available. They carry a higher risk of bugs and regressions compared to production and LTS releases. Each rolling release is supported only until the next one is available, with no updates for previous versions. Operating system version compatibility is locked at release, so we recommend upgrading to the most recent active rolling release. If you choose to install an older, unsupported rolling release, you must manually specify the exact package version for each component using your distribution’s package manager, following the records provided for that release. The following table lists all recent rolling releases.
